Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his development vision for Bihar during his forthcoming visit to Muzaffarpur on July 25, BJP president Amit Shah said here on Thursday. He is also likely to announce a special package for the state on the same day in response to Nitish Kumar’s development agenda and consistent demand for special category status, sources said.

Speaking at a function in Patna, Amit Shah also asked BJP activists to work like “ambassadors” of Modi and act in coordination with alliance partners to bring “real government of the poor to snub those who do politics in the name of dalits, backwards and the poor.”

“Narendra Modi will share his development vision for Bihar. He has a definite development roadmap for Bihar which he would discuss threadbare during his visit,” said Amit Shah. “The people have to guard against fake champions of the poor. The Narendra Modi government has started a host of poverty alleviation programmes, which can be implemented better only if there is NDA rule in Bihar,” he added.

On Thursday, Amit Shah, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, RLSP leader Upendra Kushwaha, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi and Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore flagged off 160 raths with LED TVs for as many constituencies to tell people stories of “Lalu, Nitish and also about Modi’s achievements” through a video film.

Shah and Paswan also targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for “meting out ill-treatment” to a stalwart politician like George Fernandes. Manjhi recalled a call from an MP who was told by Lalu Prasad that “Nitish Kumar and minister Lalan Singh had played a role in sending him to jail” in the fodder scam case. RLSP chief Kushwaha targeted Nitish Kumar for his liquor policy saying, “youth in Bihar have been trembling without an earthquake”.

Shah said Nitish Kumar had failed the anti-Congressism of Jayaprakash Narayan and Karpoori Thakur. “See the irony — Nitish cannot give space to Lalu on his posters, Sonia Gandhi cannot share dais with Lalu Prasad. I also wonder what Nitish would tell people about his association with Lalu especially after Nitish spoke against Lalu-Rabri raj of 15 years as NDA partner,” said Shah.
