At the Congress rally in Madhya Pradesh, vice president Rahul Gandhi said his party engages in politics of the poor and backward people and has their welfare on its agenda.

Attacking the BJP government for its “anti-poor” stance,Gandhi said the principle opposition party believes providing free benefits to the poverty stricken will spoil them. He said Congress has always been pro-poor and has worked to give equal rights and privileges to the rich and the poor.

“Bills like Land Acquisition and Food Security are designed to help the poor. The BJP has a great marketing strategy,it can show one thing from many different angles, but the truth is entirely different,” Gandhi said at the rally.

Citing falling health as a major reason for poverty,Gandhi said Congress is giving away free medicines to the farmers in Rajasthan.

“If Congress comes to power in Madhya Pradesh,it will work for your rights. We do not have the interests of any particular caste or community in sight,we want to work for the youth and the poor,” he said.

The Madhya Pradesh state election is scheduled to be held on November 25.
