West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has landed in another controversy with with Trinamool Congress Thursday naming him in a FIR filed for the murder of a TMC member by alleged Congress supporters.

Chowdhury, facing earlier murder charges and is out on bail, claims he is being falsely accused.

On Wednesday, a group of alleged Congress workers attacked Badal Shaikh and his associates and hacked him to death. The TMC filed an FIR at Jalangi police station in Murshidabad district.

Congress is planning rallies in Murshidabad on Friday against the FIR against PCC chief. “It’s shameful they are trying to implicate Adhirda in false charges. They are scared,’’ Manoj Chakrabarty, Murshidabad Congress MLA said.

Mohammad Ali, TMC candidate from Murshidabad, said: “Badal Shaikh left Congress a month ago and joined TMC… It’s because of that Congress goons… killed Badal.”

“28 people have been named including Chowdhury. So far we have arrested two people,” an officer in Jalangi police station said.

Chowdhury said he couldn’t understand why they were singling him for every murder in Murshidabad. “It is not possible…I was not in Murshidabad yesterday,’’ he said.
