FORMER Congress leader Aman Arora on Saturday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at a function at his home in Sunam. Senior party leaders Sanjay Singh and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann welcomed him into the AAP’s fold.

Sanjay Singh while speaking on the occasion said, “Bhartiya Janta Party should now be renamed as Bhartiya Jumla Party as the government is doing nothing concrete for the masses.”

“My family had received the Congress ticket six times from Sunam. But I felt suffocated in the party and hence switched. There was lot of discrimination going on within the party,” said Arora.

His brother-in-law Rajinder Deepa who is a Congressman said, “Aman went alone and could not take any worker along with him. So this shows the kind of support he has in this area. I won’t join him.”

“The way our rejected leaders are being received in the AAP, the party is turning out to be a junkyard for the deadwood in the Congress party”, Congress state president Captain Amarinder Singh said in a statement.

He said leaders like Aman Arora, Sukhpal Khaira and CD Kambhoj had successively been defeated in elections and had lost all hope of being able to contest while remaining in the Congress.

Referring to Arora, Capt said, “His family had been allotted the ticket six times continuously since 1992 and it lost four times consecutively.”

Aman himself contested in 2007 and 2012. “He probably hopes to repeat the history in AAP as well.”
