The past eight years of the BJP-led NDA rule at the Centre have been marked by high inflation, low employment and communal polarisation, the Congress said Thursday, terming it “a period of misery and misgovernance”.
Addressing a joint press conference on Thursday, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala and Ajay Maken said the BJP’s promise of bringing “achche din” to people had turned out to be “achche din for the BJP” and a select group of “crony capitalists and industrialists”.
“84 per cent Indians have seen reduced incomes, 12 crore people have lost their jobs, even as 60 lakh MSMEs have shut shop with unemployment touching 45-year records,” Surjewala said.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the Congress is moving towards a stage where its relevance and necessity is “completely lost”.
