Operation Sindoor: Flight ops hit as multiple airports in north India shut down; full list here

Around 160 domestic IndiGo flights have been cancelled as of Wednesday morning, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. At least 20 flights of various airlines have been cancelled at the Delhi airport.

According to statements by multiple Indian carriers, following airports in India are closed for civilian travel until further notice –

• Dharamshala (DHM)
• Leh (IXL)
• Jammu (IXJ)
• Srinagar (SXR)
• Amritsar (ATQ)
• Chandigarh (IXC)

Other airports affected

Meanwhile, flights from multiple other airports have also been impacted. According to IndiGo Airline’s statement, flights to and from Jodhpur and Bikaner in Rajasthan, and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh have been impacted due to airspace restrictions.

Further, Air India announced that all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot have been cancelled for May 7 till 12 noon, pending updates from authorities.

The Indian defence forces on Wednesday carried out multiple strikes against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

“A little while ago, the Indian Armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement at 1.44 am.

Following the strikes, Indian political leaders and ministers expressed solidarity with the defence forces for Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile world leaders urged for resilience and de-escalation of tensions between the two nations.
