The One Nation, One Election committee chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind Wednesday reviewed its progress so far, a day after the BJP met the panel to suggest that Lok Sabha and Assembly elections should be simultaneous in the first phase and local body polls synchronised later.
Kovind and committee members Home Minister Amit Shah, former Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission chairperson N K Singh, former Lok Sabha secretary-general Subhash C Kashyap and former CVC Sanjay Kothari attended the meeting, as per a Law Ministry statement.
The high-level committee “reviewed its various activities,” it said.
