One person was killed and at least three policemen suffered injuries in a clash between two communities in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, less than 70 km from state capital, on Saturday.

“One of the students went home and informed his family and neighbours that he had been attacked. Afterwards, a crowd went to the locality where the other student lives. What followed was a violent clash between the Hindu and Muslim communities, during which there was heavy stone pelting,” said an officer at the spot.

One of the injured policemen sustained a head injury while trying to stop the rioting.
