Congress MP KC Venugopal on Thursday said that all the Opposition parties have decided that they would not engage in any discussion before Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. “We have conveyed this to Speaker Om Birla, he said. Except AAP and DMK, all parties had agreed to the Opposition stance.

The Opposition’s decision comes amid the students’ protests raging across the country demanding Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper leaks.

The government, however, said it wants to discuss the matter in Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said: “The government is ready for a discussion on the NEET issue.”

Soon after the Opposition MPs staged a protest on the Parliament premises on Thursday, BJP national president Nitin Nabin said: “The entire opposition, including Congress, is running away from discussion, because they know that as soon as they come to the floor of the House, their double standards will be completely exposed before the people of the country and the youth. We issue an open challenge to the entire opposition. Come, let us have an open discussion on every issue related to students and youth, including NEET, on the floor of the House. The NDA government is fully prepared to engage in dialogue on every subject and answer every question.”

“But Rahul Gandhi and the opposition’s political history has been one of avoiding discussion. That is why, instead of facing debate in the House, they run away from it,” he added.
