The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has located five men wanted for their involvement in terror activities in India and tracked them down to Australia, Dubai, Philippines, Nepal and Greece.

An NIA official said a non-bailable warrant (NBW) has been issued against the five and declared them absconders.

The case, filed in New Delhi last August, relates to the alleged conspiracy hatched by the Khalistan Liberation Front (KLF), Babbar Khalsa International and the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) to wage war against the country.

The five men stand booked under sections of the IPC and the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

An official said that while Kashmir Singh Galwaddi was found to be in Nepal, Gurjant Singh was tracked down in Australia, Yadwinder Singh in Manila (Philippines), Parminder Singh in Greece and Tarsem in Dubai.

“After locating them, with the help of intelligence agencies, the NIA got NBWs issued against them from a Delhi Court earlier this month and now declared them absconder,” the official said.

An NIA official said the outfits mentioned above, besides the proscribed Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), have been engaged in promoting terror across India.
“Their activities include smuggling of terrorist hardware, such as arms, ammunition explosive, IEDs etc. across international borders, for carrying out terrorist acts like bomb explosions, targeted killings in India,” the official said.

Earlier this month, in the same case, the NIA arrested Gagandeep Singh alias Miti, a close aide of two foreign-based operatives of the KTF — Canada-based terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala and Philippines-based Manpreet Singh alias Peeta.

“Apart from Gagandeep Singh, the NIA so far has arrested four more persons, identified as Lucky Khokhar alias Denis, Jassa Singh, Amritpal Singh alias Ammy and Amrik Singh. The case was registered suo-motu by the NIA on August 20, last year,” an official said.

According to the official, Arshdeep and Manpreet have been “continuously recruiting new cadres in India to carry out the activities of KTF” and also “raising funds through extortion and other means, and carrying out smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives across the border”.

The officials said the two KTF operatives were working at the behest of Hardeep Nijjar, the KTF’s self-styled Canada-based chief who was recently shot dead by two unidentified assailants at a gurdwara in Surrey, Canada.
