At Netflix-I&B meet: Depiction of ISI role in IC-814, ‘obscenity’ in other content

During a meeting Tuesday between the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry and Netflix over the series IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack, the issue of a lack of depiction of the role of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the 1999 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight is learnt to have been discussed.

The meeting was held between I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju and Vice-President of Content at Netflix India Monika Shergill, people familiar with the matter told The Indian Express.

Following the meeting Tuesday, a statement released by Shergill read: “For the benefit of audiences unfamiliar with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, the opening disclaimer has been updated to include the real and code names of the hijackers.”
