‘Muslim men use most condoms in this country’: Owaisi counters PM Modi’s ‘more children’ barb

“According to the Modi government’s data, our population growth rates have dropped. In fact, Muslim men use most condoms in the country and I have no shame in saying this,” underlined Owaisi.

His response comes after Modi invited the ire of former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) allies and Opposition leaders, who called his comments ‘hateful’ and ‘divisive’.

Speaking at a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara on April 21, he said the Congress, if voted to power, could distribute the nation’s wealth among “infiltrators” and “those who have more children”.

Reacting to the Modi’s speech, Owaisi went on, “Narendra Modi has only one garauntee: to hate on Muslims and Dalits… He is trying to make our Hindu brothers believe that Muslims will one day become a majority in this country…. PM Modi, how long will you instil a fear of Muslims?”

In wake of the political storm, the Election Commission took cognisance of a model code violation complaint against the PM, and issued a notice to BJP president J P Nadda seeking his response to complaints filed by Congress, CPI, CPI (ML) and civil society groups regarding his remarks.
