…His harassed sister faints in senior’s office

The incident took place when IAS officer Kanaklata Tripathi was in Shukla’s office. Her health reportedly deteriorated suddenly and she fainted.

The Additional Commissioner of Allahabad Division, Kanaklata Tripathi, Monday alleged that mental harassment by Commissioner Rajan Shukla led her to fall unconscious in his office. The commissioner, however, denied the charge.

The incident reportedly took place when Tripathi was in Shukla’s office. Her health reportedly deteriorated suddenly and she fainted. She was taken to Beli Hospital, where her condition was reported to be stable.

Later, Tripathi told mediapersons that constant harassment by Shukla led to this situation.

Tripathi’s eldest brother Hari Shankar Pandey — a former PCS officer who is now an advocate in the high court — on Monday wrote to the chief secretary, principal secretary (Home) and principal secretary (Appointment) seeking Shukla’s suspension and registration of an FIR against him.

Pandey said his sister was being targeted because his younger brother Vijay Shankar Pandey and he himself had been at loggerheads with the system. “Vijay Shankar’s deputation to the Centre, which was hanging fire due to the state government’s reluctance, was cleared by the Supreme Court,” said Pandey.

Shukla, however, denied the charges of harassment. He said it was a “simple administrative matter…in which her work was not complete.”
