The biggest challenge before newly appointed state BJP president Raosaheb Danve is to bring a greater coordination between the government and organisation. On Tuesday, all India president Amit Shah declared the candidature of Danve as the next state BJP president with immediate effect. Danve is the union minister of state for food and civil supplies in the Narendra Modi government.

Expressing gratitude to the party for giving him opportunity to lead the organisation he said, “I have absolutely no issues relinquishing the charge of minister in centre. I believe the organisational responsibility is equally significant.” Adding,. “ I will work to strengthen the party.”
The first assignment that comes his way would be to ensure the target of 1.25 crore set by Shah is pursued to hilt. In a candid admission he said, “ I have always believed organisation comes first and will continue to work ahead.”

Danve’s appointment also paves the way for re-constitution of a new team in state BJP. All the prominent members who comprised outgoing state president Devendra Fadnavis team are part of the government as ministers. In next expansion general secretaries like Jaikumar Rawal, Shambahji Patil Nilengekar et al are likely to be inducted in the cabinet.

The four term (MP) in Lok Sabha who has also served in state assembly as two term MLA in the past, Danve has a strong rural base and hails from Marathwada region of Maharashtra. He also represents the Maratha community.

All the senior cabinet ministers in BJP including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the decision of the party to make Danve the Maharashtra BJP president. In his statement Fadnavis said, “I am confident Danve will work to strengthen the organisation and play a role to ensure greater coordination with the government.”

Danve is well versed with districts and gram panchayat politics but also has the ability to connect to the rural masses immediately. At the organisational level, he will widely tour across state.

Insiders in the party revealed, “ At present the cadre is still not reconciled to the ruling party mind set. When ever there are issues they want to demonstrate.”

Sources in the organisation revealed that, “ The party will shortly find another candidate to replace Danve in centre.”
