Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong on Thursday said he was among the “tens of thousands of passengers” left stranded in Delhi after IndiGo cancelled their flight to Deoghar.

In a post on X, Wong said he could not make it to a young staffer’s wedding due to the disruption. “I joined the tens of thousands of passengers stranded by IndiGo… My flight to Deoghar has been cancelled… Lost for words,” he wrote, adding an apology to the staff member waiting for him at the ceremony.

Passengers across several airports have reported cancellations and long delays for the past three days.

What was the IndiGo message Simon Wong shared

Wong posted a screenshot of IndiGo’s communication, in which the airline informed him that his flight had been cancelled “due to recent disruptions”.

The message said the airline would issue a full refund within 3–5 days. IndiGo also apologised for the impact on travel plans and requested passengers’ patience “as our teams work to support all affected customers”.

What Rahul Gandhi had to say

Congress leader and LoP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday blamed the government for the large-scale flight delays and cancellations across IndiGo’s network, calling the disruption a result of what he termed the Centre’s “monopoly model”.

In a post on X, he said: “IndiGo fiasco is the cost of this Govt’s monopoly model. Once again, it’s ordinary Indians who pay the price — in delays, cancellations and helplessness. India deserves fair competition in every sector, not match-fixing monopolies.”

The remark came as passengers across airports reported long delays and last-minute cancellations.
