‘Longstanding demand fulfiled’: PM Modi lays foundation for South Coast Railway zone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the headquarters of the South Coast Railway, paving the way to fulfill the longstanding demand for a separate 18th zone of Indian Railways, especially after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The headquarters will be built at a cost of Rs 149 crore.

“For a long time, there was a demand for a separate railway zone. Today this dream is coming true. After the construction of the headquarters of the South Coast Railway zone, activities related to agriculture and trade will expand in this entire area. Apart from this, the tourism sector and local economy will also get new opportunities for progress,” said Modi at the Andhra University ground.
