Western UP accounts for highest number of complaints to NCW

The National Commission for Women received most complaints about police apathy and atrocities.

Western Uttar Pradesh topped in complaints registered at National Commission for Women in 2010-11,followed by Delhi,eastern Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Among various categories of cases received by the women’s panel,those regarding police apathy,harassment and police atrocities were the most in number (3,744). The NCW also recorded 2,487 cases of domestic violence or matrimonial dispute,521 of harassment at workplace and 465 of dowry death during the period,official sources said.
