Ten persons killed,13 others injured in Bihar road accidents

Five members of a family were killed and 12 others got injured as a truck lost control and collided with a van.

Ten people were killed and 13 others injured in separate road accidents in Bihar’s Gaya and Bhojpur districts,police said today. Five members of a family were killed and 12 others got injured as a truck lost control and collided with a van,carrying 17 occupants,near Khajahpur crossing in Bihar’s Gaya district this morning,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganesh Kumar said.

While one person died on the spot,four others succumbed to their injuries at a government hospital,he said. The injured were admitted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH). The occupants of the van were travelling to their native village Baragaon from a temple after attending a marriage function,the SSP said.

In a separate incident in Bhojpur district,five members of a family were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision between a car and tractor near Kouria Mathia village,the police said. The victims were identified as Raj Narain Singh (50),Krishna Kumar (30),Harshit (02),Rohit Kumar (21) and Neeta Devi (30),the police said. Maliti Devi of the same family sustained severe injuries and was brought to a private hospital in the state capital for

treatment. The family was travelling on way to Patna from Allahabad after taking part in a religious function,they said.
