Shiv Sena objects to Maha Governor’s ‘Mumbai’ slip

Shiv Sena was not amused when the state governor called Navi Mumbai area 'Navi Bombay'.

Shiv Sena on Wednesday took exception to the Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan referring to the neighbouring Navi Mumbai area as ‘Navi Bombay’ during his Republic Day address here. “It is not expected from the first person of the state to say Bombay instead of Mumbai,” former Lok Sabha Speaker and Sena leader said Manohar Joshi told reporters after the function.

The Governor,in his speech, expressed happiness over clearance by the Centre to the proposed Navi Mumbai Airport. He,however, used the word ‘Navi Bombay’.

Diwakar Rawate, another Sena leader, said that action should be taken against the Governor’s speech writer.
