Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi visited the drought-hit regions in Mumbai’s Satara district on Saturday morning, and assured locals that the government would come up with a proper solution to help them get rid of all their problems.
“I will try to solve the issue concerning water,” Gandhi said.
Meanwhile,a local here appeared to be satisfied with Gandhi’s assurances.
“Rahulji cam here and listened to all our problems. But how many demands of ours are fulfilled, only he knows that. He told us to share our problems with him. We want results. There is dearth here all the time,we believe that he will fulfill the promise of bringing the water from outside,” he said.
Satara is among the worst drought-hit districts in the state.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who had visited the drought-hit areas last month, also accompanied Gandhi during his visit here.
After UP debacle,Congress general secretary is on Maharashtra tour to assist in preparations for 2014 Assembly elections. He said he will visit the state more often to boost the grass root cadre.
