Pro-Telangana parties threaten non-cooperation
TRS,BJP and other pro-Telangana organisations will start a non-cooperation movement from Feb 17.
Intensifying their agitation for Telangana,the TRS,BJP and other pro-Telangana organisations today announced that they will start a “non-cooperation movement” from February 17 to press upon the Centre for introduction of Bill for formation of the separate state in the Budget session of Parliament.
The leaders of TRS,BJP and several peoples’ organisations met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy here,under the banner of the Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC),and conveyed their decision to him.
“We told the Chief Minister to speak to the Centre and see that the Bill for formation of separate Telangana is introduced in the Budget session of Parliament. If the Centre fails to make a clear statement about moving the Bill,we will launch non-cooperation movement from February 17,” JAC Chairman M Kodandaram told reporters after meeting the CM.
He appealed to all sections of people to participate in the non-cooperation agitation and bring administration to a grinding halt so as to mount pressure on the Centre.
“Since there is no response from the government,we have to put pressure on the government. We should all come forward for achieving Telangana and bring administration to a halt,” he said.
Mounting pressure on the MLAs and MPs of Congress and TDP,he said the public representatives should also participate in the agitation failing which they will also face non-cooperation.
“MPs and MLAs should also take the vow for achieving Telangana. They should put pressure on the government.
Otherwise,there will be non-cooperation against them also,” he said.
Replying to a query,he said the agitation will be peaceful but the government is making it violent by harassing Telangana supporters.
“The Chief Minister heard what we said. He said ok. Since it is our responsibility to inform,we have done that.
Government needs to respond,” Kodandaram said.
Significantly,the Budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly would start on February 17 when the non-cooperation of pro-Telangana organizations is going to begin.
TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and other pro-Telangana leaders have been threatening to launch the “non-cooperation” as the final battle for Telangana.
Addressing a gathering at the party office here yesterday,the TRS president said administration will come to a grinding halt in Telangana with the launch of the non-cooperation agitation as public transport,government offices and others would take part in the stir.
The Telangana non-gazetted officers association has already announced that it will start the non-cooperation from February 17.
