Police said the incident took place when Sushil Pathak,who was working with Hindi daily ‘Dainik Bhaskar’,was returning home after a late night shift and the assailants fired four bullets from close range,killing him on the spot. Another journalist saw Pathak lying in a pool of blood and he informed the police.
Pathak,who was also the general secretary of Bilaspur Press Club,is survived by his wife and two children.
Police said they still have no clue about the assailants. A case has been registered and investigations have begun. The body of the slain journalist was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem on Monday morning.
Condemning the incident,Bilaspur Press Club president Sashikant Konher said the Journalists from Bilaspur were planning to organize a dharna,demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the crime.
