I’m not hankering after post: Yashwant

BJP leader, who had resigned from all party posts after the LS debacle, said he was not hankering after any post.

BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, who had resigned from all party posts raising questions over the way it was functioning after the Lok Sabha debacle,on Monday said he was not hankering after any post.

He also refuted criticism in the party national executive that he was not a grassroots leader saying he has won thrice from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency.

“Yashwant Sinha was never so small and will never be so small as to run after a post,” Sinha, who came to his residence here from Hazaribagh, told reporters in New Delhi.

He was responding to the allegation that his resignation was motivated by his desire to get a bigger post in the party.

Taking a dig at his critics for calling him a ‘hawai neta’ (leader without roots),Sinha,a former union minister, said he could manage a crowd of 10,000 anytime in the national capital.

On leakage of his resignation letter in the media, the former BJP Vice-President said he had never breached party discipline and he was not the one who leaked it to the media.

“If somebody says I have leaked it,I will protest”,he said.

“In fact,I got to know about acceptance of my resignation through the media. I did not receive any communication from the party in writing……I had sent it for that (for acceptance),” Sinha said.

Questioning how everything discussed in BJP national executive was leaked to the media,Sinha said how is it that he knows about what transpired during the two-day meet when he was not present there, indicating that party people have leaked the internal information to the media.

“Where is the party discipline in all this?…..It should be examined,” he added.

“We have to admit that the media today is all pervasive and omnipresent,” Sinha said indicating the media will continue to get information.

He said, however, that he will continue working to strengthen the party organisation and that was his “pledge”.
