Calling herself the daughter-in-law of Ludhiana,actor-turned-MP Hema Malni today wooed voters for her husband Dharmendra,who hails from the district,and asked them to elect SAD-BJP candidates in the January 30 state Assembly election.
Addressing an election rally in Ludhiana (Central) assembly constituency from where Health Minister Sat Pal Gosain is BJP nominee,she called herself the “daughter-in-law of Ludhiana” as her husband and yesteryears actor Dharmendra belongs to Sahnewal,a town on the outskirts of the city.
The BJP MP assured voters that the state would see faster development if the SAD-BJP is voted back to power.
“It is imperative for this combination to come back to power again for the completion of unfinished projects,” she said.
Hema said other NDA-ruled states including Gujarat,HP,Madhya Pradesh and Bihar had displayed a remarkable pace for development.
Congress MP and former Indian cricketer Mohd Azharuddin campaigned at Khanna for party candidate Gurkirat Singh,who is the grandson of slain Chief Minister Beant Singh.
Immense infrastructural development needs to be undertaken in the state and this is possible only under the Congress rule,he told an election rally.
