The family of a dalit student of IIT Roorkee, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the hostel, has filed complaints to NHRC and National Commission for Scheduled Castes blaming the police for not registering a case.
Rajender Kumar, the father of the deceased, yesterday alleged that police did not register a case under pressure from the institute despite that the family had made a complaint.
He also claimed that casteist remarks were made by some senior students against his son. The family had informed to authorities of the institute about the incidents but it was of no avail, the distraught father said.
