A ban on head scarves by a local college in Dakshina Kannada district has raised the hackles of students who have been boycotting classes for the last one week in protest.

The reported decision of the Ramakunjeshwara First Grade College near Uppinangady has irked students who have been protesting the management’s decision.

Students protesting outside the college told reporters that the decision amounted to showing discrimination against minority students.

The college management, however, said the charge was baseless and the ban was imposed “to enforce discipline among students”.
