Taking the lid off an alleged militant network involving an army jawan and a police constable, the Jammu Kashmir Police have arrested four people in border Rajouri town on charges of planting à hand grenade at the premises of a local civilian.

The arrested accused have been identified as a Territorial Army jawan Mohammad Hanief of Palma, police constable Abdul Rahim of Mendhar,a tempo driver Mohammad Rashid alias Kaka of gurdanbala, and Aurangzeb of Rajouri. While army jawan Mohammad Hanief was posted with 156 TA Battalion at Surankote, constable Abdul Rabin was posted at District Police Lines,Ramban. Both had come home on leave for Eid.

Significantly, the militant network involving an army jawan and a police constable in Rajouri has come three days after the arrest of a police constable for carrying out militant attacks in the Valley.

Giving details,Senior Superintendent of Police,Rajouri,Mubassar Latitude, said that Aurangzeb had an altercation with his brother Javed Ahmed who had come from Saudi Arabia recently. As he wànted to frame him in some case,he approached the tempo driver – a suspected over ground worker (OGW) of militants for help. The latter in turn approached the police constable who,in turn, contacted the TA jawan.

The TA jawan sold a Chinese grenade to them for Rs 5,000,which they planted inside Javed’s shop at Darhali bridge and informed the police. Swiftly acting of tip off, police called Javed and seized the grenade.

However, during search of the shop,it became suspicious about the informer and started questioning him. The latter broke after sometime and narrated the entire tale.
