6 killed in landslide after storm uproots massive tree in Himachal Pradesh

(Image: @anirudhsinghMLA/X) Tragedy struck Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district on Sunday after a massive tree, uprooted by a storm and landslide, came crashing down on parked vehicles near the Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib, killing six people and injuring three others.
According to officials, the tree from a mountain opposite the gurudwara gave way following heavy rains and a subsequent landslide, leaving a trail of devastation. The injured have been shifted to Jari Hospital for treatment.
Kullu Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vikas Shukla, present at the site overseeing rescue and relief operations, said emergency response teams, including medical personnel, police, and revenue officials, are at the spot and coordinated the relief efforts.
Expressing sorrow over the incident, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu directed district authorities to extend all possible assistance to the victims and their families. Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur also conveyed his condolences.
Rescue operations were underway late into the evening as teams worked to clear the debris and assess the damage.
