An all-party delegation led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will meet Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, asking him to withdraw the nod given to Karnataka’s Kalasa-Banduri project across the Mhadei river. The group is expected to leave for New Delhi on November 4.
“We had requested the Chief Minister to lead the delegation to the Centre, to urge Prakash Javadekar to withdraw the letter which allows Karnataka to go ahead with the project,” state BJP chief Vinay Tendulkar said on Thursday.
The dam is designed to divert water from the Mhadei basin to the deficit basin of the Mala-prabha river. The river, they say, has its source in Karnataka making them equal stakeholders.
