A team of NIA officials have reached Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar town to assist police probe the killing of senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother by unidentified gunmen on November 1. Pointing out that the request for NIA intervention came from the state police, sources said that the NIA team includes some technical experts.
The police have questioned over 70 people in the case, and have taken into custody at least two of them. Two PSOs, who were assigned to the leader, but were not present at the time of attack, have also been questioned and are in police custody.
“We have called them (NIA team) for assistance as they have more technical capabilities,” said S D Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone. Asked about the two suspects in the case, Jamwal said that “some people have been taken into custody, but we cannot disclose anything at this stage”.
Sources said that of the two suspects in police custody, one is suspected to have arranged food for the killers and the other had reportedly identified the targets. A woman, whose SIM card was being used by one of the apprehended PSOs, was also being questioned.
