At least four militants were killed in an encounter in Kulgam district in South Kashmir on Saturday morning.
A Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson said that an operation was launched after police tracked a group of Hizbul Mujahideen militants who were involved in the killing of civilians over the last 12 days.
While two out of the four militants have been identified as locals, the identity of the other two is being ascertained, police said.
“During efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the killing of innocent civilians by militants is condemnable,” the spokesperson said.
