Police say Usmaan Khan (62) was caught trying to escape, probe will ascertain if he was under the influence of alcohol.
Police said that the accused hit several vehicles, including two-wheelers, over a 500-metre distance.
(Source: X/@PTI_News) An SUV allegedly plowed through a busy street in Jaipur on Monday night, killing three people and injuring at least six others.
According to police, around 10 pm, Usmaan Khan (62), a factory owner and a Congress leader, was driving his vehicle in the Walled City area, the lanes of which are typically congested. Police are probing if he was under the influence of alcohol.
Following the incident, the Jaipur district Congress committee submitted a memorandum to the Jaipur collector, Jitendra Soni, which stated: “It was learnt from the newspapers that Usman Khan, the vice-president of Jaipur City District Congress Committee, ran over several people while driving recklessly, in which three people died and many were injured. Therefore, Jaipur City District Congress Committee demands from the state government that proper compensation be given to the dead and injured and the culprit be given the harshest punishment.”
