Now, Indian Railways is providing free Wi-Fi at 6,115 stations. Here’s how to access

Indian Railways free WiFi: Indian Railways (IR) is continuously working to extend the Wi-Fi facility at stations across the country. The Wi-Fi services at railway stations are being provided by RailTel, a PSU under Ministry of Railways.

Free Wi-fi at Railway Station, Indian Railways free WiFi: Indian Railways (IR) is providing free Wi-Fi facilities at 6,115 railway stations across the country with an objective to meet the Government of India’s (GoI) Digital India program. In a written statement in Rajya Sabha on August 8, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed the development.

“Almost all railway stations across Indian Railways have 4G/5G coverage provided by the Telecom Service Providers. These networks are also being utilised by passengers for data connectivity resulting in enhanced passenger experience. Besides the above, free Wi-Fi services have also been provided at 6115 Railway stations,” Vaishnaw said.

The Union Minister was responding to questions raised by Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal over the total number of railway stations with free Wi-Fi service.

Some of the major railway stations in India with the availability of free Wi-Fi services are as follows: Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal, New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Ambala Cantt. Jn., Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Solan, Shimla, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Ranchi, Dhanbad Junction, Mangalore Central, Yesvantpur, Bangarpet, Dharwad, Ernakulam Jn., Kozhikkode, Tiruvananthapuram Central, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Mumbai Central, Pune, Kalyan, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Amritsar, Jalandhar City, Ludhiana,Chennai Central,Kacheguda, Hyderabad, Secunderabad Jn., Allahabad, Gorakhpur Jn.,Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut City, Sealdah, Kharagpur, Barddhaman, Asansol, New Jalpaiguri, Howrah, etc.

How to Connect Wi-Fi at Railway Stations?

Using free Wi-Fi services, the passengers can stream High Definition (HD) Videos, download of movies, songs, games, and do their offices work online within the station premises. Let’s know how to use Wi-Fi at railway station:

  • Switch on the Wi-Fi mode on your smartphone.
  • Select the RailWire Wi-Fi network.
  • Enter Mobile and get one-time password (OTP) through SMS.
  • Enter OTP and start accessing High speed Wi-Fi.

The Wi-Fi services at railway stations are being provided by RailTel, a PSU under Ministry of Railways.
