Sabah Shawesh, a Yemeni woman married to an Indian, reached India on Monday after she was evacuated by the Indian government along with her eight-month-old son.

“Finally safe in India. All thanks to @SushmaSwaraj and her incredible team. Jai Hind,” she tweeted.

The External Affairs Minister replied: “No need for thanks @SabahShawesh. It is our duty towards our country and countrymen. God bless your child — our young citizen.”

Sabah had reached out to PM Narendra Modi and Swaraj on Twitter on March 31, and had identified herself as PIO card holder.

Her husband is an Indian national.
