A woman was allegedly set on fire by a group of men and women over a dispute over a pond at Salahpur village in Gurdaspur district’s Batala area in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The woman has been admitted to a hospital with 25 per cent burn injuries.
Police have booked two women and three men for attempt to murder. Batala Senior Superintendent of Police,Tulsi Ram,said those booked were Manjit Kaur,Sukhwinder Kaur,Fumman Singh,Ranjodh Singh and Mohinder Singh.
According to Ram,Nirmal Kaur said that the group of five persons barged into her house around 5.30 am and poured kerosene oil on her and set her on fire. Her husband is a physically-challenged.
