Family members of a 36-year-old lecturer,Rashi Sharma,who died on Sunday after developing major complications while undergoing infertility treatment at Vardan Medical Centre here,have alleged that the owner of the hospital treated the patient even though he was not a doctor. They have also submitted a complaint to Police Commissioner Ram Singh alleging that Vareesh Kumar,owner of the centre,met them as a head doctor of the hospital and even conducted Rashis scanning.
Addressing a press conference here today,Rashis husband,Amit Sharma,who is an advocate,also alleged that Vareesh was present in the operation theater when his wife became serious during a surgery.
He said the family was shocked to discover later that Vareesh was not a doctor. When they questioned Vareesh Kumar about suffixing MD to his name,he told them it stood for Managing Director,family members alleged.
Sharma demanded action against Vareesh for posing as a doctor. The Commissioner has marked an enquiry to ADCP 2 Parminder Singh Bhandal.
