The Punjab government will make all payments to Arthias (commission agents) through an online system in the state,for the ensuing wheat procurement season that begins on April 1.
Beginning Monday,all procurement agencies of the state government will make all payments to Arthias through the online system to ensure the timely disbursement of amounts to the agents. The government has appealed to the Arthias to get registered under the system,to ensure payments can directly be made through the Kisan Arthia Information and Remittance Online Network with Rupay Debit Card.
Arthias would be issued cards by the participating banks and they would have to swipe their cards on swipe machines to be installed in each Mandi by the banks concerned, an official spokesman said on Sunday.
He added that by swiping the card,entries would be flashed in the portal of agencies for further approval by the agency staff. Immediately after receiving approval,the payment would be transferred into the accounts of Arthias by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). He further said that eleven leading banks are participating in the project.
