The BJP’s in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna, discusses the delay in forming a government with the PDP.
The government is taking a long time forming.
See, the ideologies of the two parties are a bit different. We cannot step away from our ideology and they cannot either. The question is how to arrive at a common minimum programme that will keep in mind development and also ensure we do not tamper with our ideologies.
What are those differences?
Article 370, AFSPA and the question of the refugees from West Pakistan and their rights.
How much longer will it take?
It is a continuing process. It depends on which issue gets clinched. We are in a hurry because people have voted for us and are waiting for a chief minister and for ministers to be appointed, MLAs are hoping for ministerial berths and, now, MLCs are getting nominated.
Is the post of chief minister still an issue?
It is not an issue at all, either with the PDP or with us.
