In the backdrop of BJP’s electoral victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, the Communist Party of China has expressed a desire to establish party-to-party contacts with the saffron party. The desire was expressed by a five-member delegation of CPC, led by Zhang Xuyi, who visited BJP headquarters here on Monday. “Establishing party-to-party relations between CPC and BJP, strong India-China relations, and extending invitation to BJP to send a delegation to China soon were stressed by CPC leaders,” said a press communiqué issued by the BJP after the meeting on Monday. The CPC delegation was welcomed BJP general secretaries J P Nadda and Ramlal at the party headquarters.
While underlining BJP’s commitment for “strong India-China relations”, Nadda was quoted to have stressed the importance of exchange of scholars and exchange programmes for youth, students and women between the two countries. BJP leaders also suggested additional facilities for Kailash Mansarover pilgrims to strengthen ties between the two nations. BJP members were learnt to have discussed trade imbalances and “regional influences” during the meeting with the visiting CPC delegation.
