The girl, who was publicly assaulted by Tarn Taran policemen after she had approached them to complain about eve teasing in March,on Friday failed to turn up for the identification parade of the accused.

“The identification parade was scheduled to begin at 4 pm,but the victim did not turn up. This, despite the family checking with me earlier in the day whether I was coming to Tarn Taran for the parade or not,” Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner S R Ladhar said.

He added: “We waited for an hour. Later, when my office staff called her,she said she was ill and hence, could not come.”

Meanwhile, the relatives of the taxi drivers, who have been accused of teasing the girl,on Friday alleged that they were being falsely implicated in the case. While threatening to commit suicide, one of them alleged that Rs 15 lakh have been demanded from them to get the case against them withdrawn.

When contacted, both Tarn Taran SSP Rajjit Singh and Ladhar said he was not aware of any such allegations.
