Haryana Jan Chetna Party (HJCP) president Venod Sharma and his wife Shakti Rani Sharma were among the 19 candidates whose names were announced Friday for the Haryana Assembly elections.
While Sharma will be contesting from Ambala City, his wife will be fielded from Kalka. The election will be a litmus test for Sha-rma who, after staying in the Congr-ess for four decades, decided to float his own party and contest the elections in alliance with Haryana Janhit Congress. Sharma had won the Assembly election from Ambala City in 2004 and 2009 and will be contesting from here for the third consecutive time. The HJCP will field candidates on 25 seats and its ally HJC on 65.
Announcing the candidates, Sharma ruled out the possibility of him going back to the Congress. “There is no question of aligning with the Congress even after the election” said Sharma.
