In a minor shuffle of bureaucrats, the government has appointed IAS officer V Radha joint managing director (MD) of CIDCO. She takes over from Tanaji Satre, who headed the organisation for the past three years. In March,Sanjay Bhatia was appointed CIDCO MD.
The appointment of Radha assumes significance as the state is planning to finalise a rehabilitation package for the 12,000 families to be displaced by the Navi Mumbai Airport project.
Radha was deputy commissioner of BMC before moving to Andhra Pradesh on deputation in 2009. The immediate task for Bhatia and Radha would be to finalise the compensation and rehabilitation plan for Navi Mumbai Airport project-displaced.
The project has been stuck for the past few months as a relief package acceptable to the affected has not been worked out. In other changes,Prajakta Lavangare-Verma,deputy to the chief secretary, has moved to the shipping ministry as joint MD and retired additional chief secretary (home) Chandra Iyengar has been appointed member of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Iyengar was chosen after former metropolitan commissioner Rahul Asthan turned down the assignment.
