ULFA guns down Hindi-speaking trader

Tinsukia SP Arnab Deka said three unidentified persons knocked on the door and shot him from close range after a brief altercation.

A hindi-speaking trader and his daughter were killed and two others seriously injured when suspected ULFA cadres belonging to the Paresh Barua faction opened fire on them at Pengeri in Tinsukia district in upper Assam on Tuesday night.

Tinsukia SP Arnab Deka said three unidentified persons knocked on the door of the residence of Nandlal Shah, a Hindi-speaking local trader in the Bijuli-ban locality in Pengeri, about 40 km from the district headquarter, and shot him from close range after a brief altercation. Four other persons were also injured as the militants targeted them.

Shah’s daughter Kajol, who was among those injured, died on the way to hospital.
