Bangalore police on Tuesday arrested two 17-year-olds for the murder of their friend, a 33-year-old software engineer from Kerala. The duo hailing from Uttar Pradesh allegedly murdered the techie in East Bangalore over a financial dispute on November 5. The victim, Prajeeth Anand, was a software engineer with TCS. He was found lying dead by the roadside, nearly 3 km from his house, after he had stepped out to meet his friends.
Police suspected the role of the youths after one of them, who was the victim’s neighbour, went missing following the murder. Police launched a search and tracked the duo to Gorakhpur in UP last week.
Investigation has revealed that four persons — two of them are still at large — killed Prajeeth after he asked them to repay the money he had spent on them. Police said the main accused is the techie’s 17-year-old neighbour who had borrowed Rs 35,000 in cash from Prajeeth. This apart, the four went on tours with the techie, who bore the expenses.
Police said Prajeeth had begun pestering the youths to repay him. He also reportedly threatened to inform the youths’ parents, following which the youths allegedly planned to murder him.
