The Haryana Police on Sunday took arrested ‘godman’ Rampal back to his Satlok Ashram in Barwala town of Hisar, questioning him about several password-protected lockers found there.

The police also continued to search the ashram, where on Sunday they recovered nine rifles, including five .315 bore guns, and approximately 50,000 wooden batons from two tractor-trolleys. Over the last three days, a huge cache of arms, ammunition, oil tankers and over a 100 vehicles have been recovered from its 12-acre premises.

The controversial godman was taken to the ashram under heavy police security. According to the police, Rampal was questioned about the key to several lockers that were found password protected. Rampal, who is in the police custody for five days, was also being questioned over the source of weapons found inside the ashram. The police had earlier recovered around Rs 4 lakh in cash and over three dozen rifles, revolvers and country-made pistols from there.

The weapons were used by Rampal’s self-styled commandos, the police said, adding that a bullet-proof Tata Safari was also recovered Saturday.

The police’s crackdown on the Satlok Ashram to arrest Rampal in a contempt case led to death of five women and a child. The post-mortem of two deceased women revealed fractured ribs. Based on the statements of their kin, the police had booked Rampal for murder, besides various other criminal offences under the Indian Penal Code.
