A man strangled his two daughters, aged five and two, to death, wrapped their bodies in a bag and dumped them in a coffee estate at Allurvayal, 60 km from Ooty, the police said Sunday.

They said the incident occurred after 35-year-old Rajan had an arument with his wife about his drinking habit. After the fight, his wife left for her mother’s house with their two daughters. Irked by this, Rajan went there and strangled them.

He then packed the bodies in a bag with the intention of dumping it in the forest, but when passers-by questioned him about the contents of the bag, he abandoned it and fled. The locals, who then opened the bag, saw the bodies and informed the police.
