The Amritsar ( rural ) police has arrested an alleged three member inter-state gang of armed robbers comprised of two serving Army personnel and another who had been dismissed from the force. Police said the trio were involved in various incidents of gun-point robberies in a number of states and across Punjab and claim to have recovered four pistols,two cars,a motorcycle and Rs 99,100 from them.
Disclosing this here on Friday,SSP,Amritsar (rural) Manmohan Singh said that the arrested include Sahib Singh of Karmuwal in Tarn-Taran,Malkit Singh of Guru Ram Das Colony in Patti and Bikramjit Singh of Lohka in Tarn Taran. They were picked by a police team led by SP (D) Jasdeep Singh,while they were on their way to Beas from Tarn Taran. According to police,Malkit Singh is supposed to be posted with the 6th Light Infantry at Arunachal Pradesh,while the other serving Army member,Sahib Singh,has been absent from duty. Bikramjit Singh,on the other hand,was dismissed from the Indian Army.
They were nabbed early on Friday morning when they allegedly attempted to drive through a police barricade. Backup teams of the district police managed to stop the car.
