The mutilated body of 23-year-old tattoo artist Paras Bhasin, found near the railway tracks in East Delhis Ganesh Nagar, was crushed by a heavy object, police said on Tuesday. Bhasins family maintained that his wifes kin had murdered him and dumped his body.
A senior police officer said,Forensic examination has revealed that the body was crushed, not hacked. Paras was hit by a train heading to Ghaziabad. We are trying to find the driver of the train and looking for eyewitnesses in the case.
The post-mortem has revealed that the body was not headless. Bhasins head was crushed into his body, police said.
Police said they had found and questioned the man who found Bhasins body and informed his family. The caller was a 17-year-old passerby. He told us that he was passing by when he spotted the mutilated body. He found Bhasins wallet, from where he got his visiting card. He dialled the number on the visiting card and informed the family about Bhasins death. He told us that he wanted to help the family, a senior police officer said.
The family had alleged that this man,who called them up 18 times in 20 minutes, was among the conspirators.
Police also questioned Bhasins in-laws about allegations of honour killing. Bhasins wife and her family was called for questioning and they denied all allegations. They denied to have threatened him with dire consequences. The FIR was lodged based on allegations made by Bhasins family. It is too early to come to any conclusion in this case, a police official said.
Bhasins family said that they were not satisfied with the investigation and asked for the case to be transferred to the Crime Branch or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Earlier, the police did not register a murder case and ordered an inquiry. Now,they are trying to establish that it is a case of suicide by saying that his body was crushed by the train, Bhasins sister Surabhi said.
The family had alleged that two hours after Bhasin was murdered, his wife had sent him an SMS warning him to be wary of her parents.
An hour before his death,Bhasin had called his sister.
He called me around 1.30 pm. He was sounding very upset. He was crying over the phone and told me that he was going to meet a lawyer to get his wifes custody. Soon after,we received a call about his death, Surabhi said.
