Factionalism in the Haryana unit of the Congress once again played out in Delhi Sunday.

Moments before Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Ramlila Maidan, party workers from Haryana celebrated something else. Hundreds of supporters of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, wearing pink turbans, booed Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar when he rose to speak. In fact, they jeered Tanwar throughout his short speech.

In contrast, they rose in unison to cheer Hooda, co-chairman of the organising committee, when he delivered the vote of thanks. Hooda and his son Deepender proved once again they have a key role in the success of such rallies in Delhi.

Tanwar was jeered by Hooda supporters when the Congress organised a similar rally in April. For a change, Tanwar too brought in his supporters in large numbers but they were outnumbered by Hooda supporters.
