Sukhu sends showcause notice to Bawa

Two days after he was officially named as the Himachal Congress president,Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday issued a showcause notice of Hardeep Singh Bawa — Chairman of HP Construction Workers’ Welfare Board — who was arrested by the Haryana Police in a criminal case.

Two days after he was officially named as the Himachal Congress president,Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday issued a showcause notice of Hardeep Singh Bawa — Chairman of HP Construction Workers’ Welfare Board — who was arrested by the Haryana Police in a criminal case.

Bawa,who had been in Ambala central jail for two days before being granted bail,id the Himachal INTUC president and is considered close to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Sukhu has asked Bawa to reply within 15 days and also submit facts of the case alongwith a copy of the FIR registered against him.

The notice read: “In recent days,legislators and vernacular dailies has highlighted the issue of your conviction in a criminal case. The HPCC has adopted a policy of zero tolerance on criminilisation of politics and your alleged conviction has maligned the image of the Indian National

Congress.”

Earlier,Sukhu,within days of taking over as PCC’s acting president,had suspended Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary from the party for his involvement in an alleged case of murder.
